Pets
'Tis sweet to hear the watch-dog's honest bark
Bay deep-mouthed welcome as we draw near home;
'tis sweet to know there is an eye will mark
Our coming, and look brighter when we come.
(Lord Byron 1788-1824)
If a dog jumps onto your lap it is because he is fond of you;
If a cat does the same it is because your lap is warmer.
(A.N. Whitehead 1861-1947, British philosopher)
Pets are much, much more than possessions, they are more than companions; they are part of the family.
When a new pet arrives in a household it is going to change everything
– just like a new baby.
A Life Celebrant can assist in marking the welcome of a pet. A ceremony can include formal
naming and involve commitment from young family members to be responsible and care for the new
family addition.
Losing a pet leaves a big hole in our lives. When it goes, it will be sorely missed and often
mourned. A simple ceremony can help acknowledge our feelings of loss and provide a proper farewell
for a true friend's unconditional trust and companionship.
A reasonable fee covers one consultation and the ceremony.
