Families
Blending of families – welcoming foster, adoptive and step-children; welcoming a new grandparent or parent
› See also our section on Family Reunion services
We think of blending families as a new thing. Not so. Families have probably never been as simple as the nuclear family was made out to be in the fifties and sixties. Back when mothers often died in childbirth and
fathers spent years away at war and in risk-prone jobs, parents were lost to illness or disaster more often than we can imagine. A man would find a new wife (sometimes a widowed mother) to care for his children and household; extended families would take in nieces and nephews. Three generations, more often than not, lived under the one roof.
Now circumstances are often different. We want a new family combination to be celebrated. All members of the new family group should feel welcome and included with a sense of belonging, being a part of something good.
With the extra special touch of a Life Celebrant, your ceremony will be unique, developed with you to ensure it will best reflect the character and needs of all the people involved.
Rilke's own experience and her professional background help her put young
people at their ease. She will get them involved in planning and positively
participating in the ceremony in ways that are truly meaningful to them,
while taking into account the needs and wishes of the parents and wider family.
Professionally designed commemorative certificates will enhance your memories of an unforgettable and fun occasion.
